  1. So long forgotten, interest in the APLPs is slowly growing. This
    paper clearly demonstrates that overexpression of APLP1 leads to a
    dramatic change in APP processing, causing a decrease in β
    processing and an increase in α-processing. Although many
    questions remain unanswered, differential regulation of APLP/APLP2
    and APP could provide a novel route for a therapy facilitating an
    increase in APPsα (a putative neuroprotective agent), while
    simultaneously achieving a decrease in the neurotoxic Aβ.
