Frontotemporal Dementia vs Alzheimer's Disease: Aβ42 (Plasma and Serum)
Meta-analysis of two studies showed that levels of Aβ42 in plasma were slightly higher in people with frontotemporal dementia than people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 1.163, p = 0.0047). However, considering the small number of subjects and marginal p value, additional data are needed to confirm—or refute—this finding. For comparison, levels of Aβ42 in blood did not differ between Alzheimer’s disease patients and controls.
