We are very pleased to notice that another group has reproduced our results regarding the transcriptional regulation of BACE1 by PPAR-γ and PGC1-α (Sastre et al., 2006; Katsouri et al., 2011). However, it would have been better if our finding that PGC1-α reduces BACE1 expression via a PPAR-γ-mediated mechanism was acknowledged in the discussion. Our work was only referenced regarding changes in the levels of PGC1-α in the brain of AD patients.
