These authors provide a competent review of new findings in the glutamate transporter field, a field which ultimately may provide insights into neurodegenerative diseases. At present they are just beginning to develop the probes necessary to evaluate the several Glu transporter systems in diseases such as AD. In the next few years, valuable information will become available in this field.
