  1. It could be more simple to say that pathological aging (PA) corresponds to incipient AD and that the decrease of neprilysin immunoreactivity is only observed in late stages of AD.

    The concept of pathological aging suggests that the lesions before clinical expression are related to age, while they are fully part of the disease after clinical manifestations. Brain diseases are not binary events.
