  1. This essay provides a brief overview of US ADNI and the ADNI-like studies in Europe, Japan, and Australia. It captures the amazing spirit of collaboration in the innovative public-private consortium of US ADNI investigators, as well as that of the ADNI-like studies launched in Europe, Japan, and Australia. These cooperative initiatives bode well for accelerating efforts to identify better AD biomarkers for early diagnosis and use in AD clinical trials. They also build global scientific relationships to foster international AD research teams. Les Shaw and I lead the U.S. ADNI Biomarker Core at the University of Pennsylvania. We are gratified by the active partnerships that have developed between our core and members of the ADNI industry scientific advisory board (ISAB) in our efforts to validate and standardize promising AD biomarkers, such as CSF tau and Aβ.
