Principal Investigators / Group Leaders

Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, University of Cambridge

Cambridge , England, United Kingdom

This is an ongoing recruitment process without a current deadline for applications. For more information, please contact Prof. Julian Rayner, director of CIMR at:

The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research is an interdisciplinary research institute within the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, located in a dedicated building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus near Addenbrookes and Papworth Hospitals.

At the interface between laboratory research and the clinic, CIMR’s mission is to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health. To achieve this, CiMR leverages deep collaborations between basic and clinician scientists, built on shared interests, outstanding core facilities and an inclusive, supportive working environment.

We are looking for excellent researchers who would:

  • Secure competitive, external grant funding to support their salaries and build a research team;
  • Fit with CIMR's research strategy, priorities, interests, and strengths: cellular homeostasis and the processes that maintain it (specifically protein folding and quality control, membrane trafficking, and organelle biology) and diseases where cellular homeostasis is altered (rare genetic diseases, neurological diseases and intracellular infections);
  • Add to our collaborative, collegial culture;
  • Be committed to contributing actively toward the success and working of the Institute as a whole.

In keeping with our strategy, CIMR is particularly committed to maintaining a good mix of non-clinical and clinician-scientist PIs, and to increasing diversity. Therefore, it actively encourages applications from within groups that are currently under-represented in scientific leadership posts.
