The University of California, Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) has an opportunity for a postdoctoral position within the laboratory of Ian Smith/Ian Parker to work on projects related to mouse models of Alzheimer’s diseases. A major focus of this position will be to utilize various imaging modalities to quantify synpase density/morphology in newly derived mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. This will be accomplished using a vairty of novel technologies including N-STORM super-resolution imaging, super-resolution imaging with DNA-PAINT, and expansion microscopy. This position will also involve image processing, manipulation, and analysis of three-dimensional data stacks using Python.

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences. Candidates should have a record of completed graduate research that can be directly applied to the field of interest described above. Prior experience in imaging is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have a strong publication record and also have a broad range of skills, including the ability to maintain effective interactions and collaborations with other members of the lab and Institute. The position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate and is for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal.
