The Icahn School is seeking a motivated and passionate individual to work on neurodegenerative tauopathies, including Alzheimer's disease, primary age-related tauopathy, progressive supranuclear palsy, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. The candidate will join a highly active research program within the Mount Sinai Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer’s disease.
- Assist in the design and implementation of CRISPR/Cas9-based modeling of risk alleles in cellular models, including stem cell-derived neuronal models.
- Quantitative morphometric analyses of disease phenotypes in post-mortem human and model organisms.
- Work toward development of independent scientific ideas and postdoctoral appropriate grants (e.g., K award, R03), with a long-term goal of independent investigator status.
The applicant must have:
- An interest in working with a diverse group of scientists to advance understanding of neurodegenerative diseases through a synergy of wet and dry lab approaches.
- A recent Ph.D., M.D., or both.
- Experience with common molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., immunoblotting, cell culture, viral and plasmid vectors, PCR, QPCR, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization and fluorescence microscopy).
The ideal applicant will have experience with induced pluripotent stem cell modeling of neurons.
