The Laboratory of Prion Science is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join its multidisciplinary team. The lab investigates how prions spread from cell to cell within the brain as well as the mechanisms underlying selective neuronal vulnerability and neurotoxicity in prion disease. To study prion aggregation and neurotoxicity, the lab uses iPSC-derived human neuron and primary murine neuron cultures, molecular biology, mass spectrometry and other biochemistry techniques, and mouse models. The team is highly interactive with other teams across UCSD and on the La Jolla Mesa. Additional information can be found at http://sigurdsonlab.ucsd.edu.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. and research experience in neuroscience, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology, and a strong interest in neurological and protein misfolding diseases.
