A postdoctoral position is available to study neurotoxicity in prion disease using primary neurons, biochemistry techniques, and mouse models. The Sigurdson lab is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join its multidisciplinary team. The lab investigates how prions spread from cell to cell within the brain as well as the mechanisms underlying selective neuronal vulnerability, spongiform change, and neurotoxicity in prion disease. The team is highly interactive with other teams across UCSD and on the La Jolla Mesa. Additional information can be found at http://sigurdsonlab.ucsd.edu.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. and research experience in neuroscience, biochemistry and/or molecular biology, and a strong interest in neurological and protein misfolding diseases.
