You will undertake high-quality research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. The focus is on examining neural replay and related mechanisms in novel mouse models of Alzheimer’s. The project is a close collaboration with laboratories at the UCL Max Planck Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research (Prof. Ray Dolan), in the MRC Brain Dynamics Unit Oxford (Prof. David Dupret) and the UCL Dementia Research Centre (Prof. Nick Fox).

The project will involve recording neuronal activity using state-of-the-art electrophysiological methods (Neuropixels) and two-photon microscopy in combination with novel behavioral paradigms and linking preclinical outcomes to data and findings derived from human subjects and obtained by our collaborators.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work independently on a high-impact, state-of-the-art, collaborative, and cross-species project in a stimulating vibrant research environment.

The post is available from 1 July 2023 and funded by the UK DRI at UCL for three years or until 30 June 2026, whichever is earlier, in the first instance.

A Ph.D. in neuroscience or a neuroscience-related or quantitative discipline such as physics, engineering, applied mathematics. Ability to be self-directed, with excellent research skills, and capable of working collaboratively within a team of international multidisciplinary researchers, while displaying independent thinking and initiative.
