VA Puget Sound GRECC / University of Washington
The Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care Systems (VAPSHCS) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting for two (2) full-time faculty positions to the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the VAPSHCS. These positions are supported by VA full-time salaries and the incumbents will also be appointed to a full-time faculty position at the University of Washington as Assistant (10112), Associate (10113), or Full Professor (10111) rank. The department and rank will be dependent upon qualifications. These are nontenured, 12-month, multiyear appointments. Incumbents will be appointed on the physician-scientist pathway.
Position duties include research, patient care, and teaching at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Applicants should possess an established academic track record including experience with teaching and/or clinical programs related to aging and an externally funded research program as principal investigator. The applicants must be excellent clinically and committed to the clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. All University of Washington faculty engages in clinical care, teaching, research, and service.
The VAPSHCS GRECC is an interdisciplinary center of excellence with strong research, education, and clinical programs in neurodegenerative diseases, endocrinology, prostate cancer and other aging-related areas but qualified individuals with other aging-related areas of research are also encouraged to apply.
Requirements include an M.D., and completion of postdoctoral research training in any discipline related to the biology of aging and dementia. Applicants must prove successful completion of an accredited residency program and, if applicable, board certification in a sub-specialty (or foreign equivalent).
