The university seeks expressions of interest from enthusiastic and creative independent thinkers who will contribute to research in the U.K. Dementia Research Institute (UKDRI) at Cardiff. Selected fellows will develop and lead a program of research within the overall scientific remit that complements the research portfolio of the UKDRI at Cardiff and across the UKDRI. The fellows will build upon strong genetic evidence in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases using cellular, animal, and bio-informatic modelling to understand disease mechanisms and identify targets for therapeutic modification.
Current Research Programmes within the UKDRI@Cardiff include microglial and complement biology, roles in neuroinflammation, multivariate bioanalysis and functional genomics, genetic therapy, and mechanisms to modify Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, molecular analysis and therapies vascular contributors to Dementia Drosophila Genetics for modelling human dementias.
