Research: The incumbent will be expected to establish, coordinate, and integrate clinical Alzheimer’s disease research protocols at Butler Hospital, in collaboration, with the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and the Department of Neurology. The incumbent will also be expected to participate in regional, national, and international Alzheimer’s disease research networks. Mentorship and research support will be provided to assist the incumbent to establish an independent investigative program, preferably focusing on Alzheimer’s disease research or a closely related field. It is expected that 30-75 percent protected time, depending on the candidate, and space will be provided for faculty member’s research and scholarly activity/productivity. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between Butler Hospital and the various programs of Brown University and its affiliated hospitals.
Patient Care: The incumbent will be expected to see patients in the Memory and Aging Program outpatient unit.
Teaching: The incumbent will be expected to participate in the teaching programs of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Department of Neurology, which includes residents and fellows in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Department of Neurology.
Service Responsibilities: The incumbent will be expected to actively participate in activities of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Department of Neurology, and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Requirements: Minimum requirements include doctoral degree, physician licensed to practice medicine in Rhode Island, board eligibility or certification in neurology or psychiatry, strong clinical background with patients with cognitive disorders, excellence in patient care and teaching, and a commitment to scholarly participation in the Alzheimer’s disease research programs of the Warren Alpert Medical School. Experience and/or fellowship training in cognitive neurology/geriatric psychiatry is highly desirable. It is preferred that the candidate’s research experience focus on Alzheimer’s disease or a closely related field.
