Parkinson's Disease vs Alzheimer's Disease: MCP-1 (CSF)
Meta-analysis of four studies found slightly lower levels of MCP-1 in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with Parkinson's disease compared with people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 0.922), but the p value (0.012) was only marginally significant. For comparison, levels of CSF MCP-1 were also about 8 percent lower in control subjects than AD patients, a difference of uncertain biological significance.
