Dementia with Lewy Bodies vs Alzheimer's Disease: sTREM2 (CSF)
TREM2 is a microglial transmembrane protein that is proteolytically processed to release a soluble fragment (sTREM2). Meta-analysis did not show a difference in the levels of sTREM2 in the cerebropsinal fluid of people with dementia with Lewy bodies and people with Alzheimer's disease. However, a paucity of data limited the meta-analysis, with only two eligible studies. For comparison, the level of sTREM2 in the CSF of AD patients is about 30 percent higher than in controls.
