Description:	The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Director of the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute (KNI). The KNI Director will be responsible for integrating clinical and basic neuroscience research, and structuring a clinical/translational research unit that builds on existing strengths in the neurosciences at UK. The director is a high-profile position that has significant potential for making an impact on the College and its mission to foster and expand translational research in the neurosciences. To achieve this goal, the College and UK HealthCare are prepared to invest substantial institutional resources to achieve the scholarly objectives of the KNI.
Requirements:	The successful candidate will be an accomplished translational scientist (MD and/or PhD) with a strong track record of success in securing extramural funding for human research in the neurosciences. Applicants must have proven academic leadership and management capabilities, demonstrated success in working collaboratively and building effective teams, and the ability to develop and implement a strategic vision that aligns and synergizes with academic and clinical partners at UK. These partners include the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Anatomy and Neurobiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science.
