Job Title:	Postdoctoral Scholar Training Position

Description:	The University of California, Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders has an opportunity for postdoctoral scholar training positions within the basic science program to work on projects related to brain aging, and Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Positions require a Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: neuroscience, biochemistry, physiology or pharmacology. The current focus of this project is to investigate the molecular pathways and mechanisms, and biochemical events that occur during brain aging. This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on training grant funding and will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support. All qualified applicants, including women and minority candidates, are encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin 18 March 2013 and will continue until positions are filled.
Requirements:	Candidates should have a record of completed graduate research that can be directly applied to the fields of interest listed above. Prior experience in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and animal handling is important. Experience in immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry is essential. The successful candidate must have a strong publication record and also have a broad range of skills, including the ability to maintain effective interactions and collaborations with other members of the Institute. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residence status.
