Job Title:	Postdoctoral Position in Neurodegeneration and Aging

Description:	A postdoctoral position is available in the Kraemer lab located at the University of Washington in Seattle. We use C. elegans to model the neurodegeneration seen in Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and other aging related disorders. We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow who works well with others as part of a research team. The ability to design, conduct, and report on research experiments is required. Communication skills, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn new approaches are of paramount importance. The fellow will pursue the underlying causes of aging associated protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disease using transgenic C. elegans models. Duties and Responsibilities include: development of transgenic models for aging related disorders; genetic screening for modifiers of neurodegeneration; effective communication with internal and external researchers; reporting of research findings.
Requirements:	Knowledge/Skills necessary Strong problem solving skills Knowledge of genetics and/or neurobiology Ability to design and execute controlled experiments Aptitude for effective scientific writing Desirable Experience/Skills Experience working with C. elegans Competence in microbiology and molecular cloning Familiarity with RNAseq/NGS data analysis Knowledge of bioinformatics analysis Familiarity with transgenic and/or knockout mice Experience with cell culture Knowledge of pharmacology A PhD in the biological sciences and the ability to fulfill responsibilities listed above. Eligibility for T32/F32 NIH training grants or other independent funding sources are also important. Self-motivation is essential.
