Two postdoctoral fellowship positions are available
immediately to study the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and
development of new therapeutic approaches.
There are two postdoc positions available to
investigate:
1. the processing of APP by beta and γ-secretase to
produce the amyloid-β peptide and its role in Alzheimer's
disease. We are investigating the mechanism and therapeutic
use of compounds called γ-secretase modulators (GSMs) using
mouse models, cell culture, and chemical biology.
2. Loss of the progranulin (PGRN) protein leads to
frontotemporal dementia. Variants in the PGRN gene appear to
increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease. We are
investigating the biological function of PGRN in the CNS
using knockout mice, primary cultures, and high throughput
genomics and proteomics.
