Job Title:	Postdoctoral Scholar

Description:	The Dickey lab in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Byrd Alzheimer's Institute at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa, is seeking qualified candidates for a 12-month, full-time, Postdoc Scholar for a project to assess the relationship between stress-inducible chaperone proteins and neurodegenerative disease progression. In particular, several proteins that are genetically linked to psychiatric disorders also appear to have a role in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly tauopathies such as Alzheimer's disease. The purpose of this project will be to investigate the mechanisms linking these protein chaperones to Alzheimer's disease and whether early life traumatic events that perpetuate psychopathologies, such as depression in midlife, can influence the onset and/or progression of tauopathies later in life. This project may lead to breakthroughs in Alzheimer's disease, gerontology and psychiatric diseases. Salary is commensurate with experience and follows the NIH scale.
