Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellowship
Employer: Department of Biological Sciences, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa
Description: A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama to study virus-host interactions and the role of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) in Alzheimer's disease. The candidate will investigate the biology of HSV-1 infections in neuronal cells and in transgenic zebrafish carrying genetic markers associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease. The research will include molecular, cellular, and behavioral studies.
Requirements: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, virology or related field and a solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals. A background in HSV-1 or Alzheimer's disease research is preferred. The candidate should be highly motivated, creative, and able to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts. Proficiency in molecular biology, virology, fluorescence microscopy, and cell culture techniques is desired. A strong work ethic and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
