Job Title: International Post-Graduate Programme in Molecular Biosciences
Employer: Schools of Sciences & Medicine, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain
Description: The Postgraduate Molecular Biosciences Programme at the UAM is offering contracts to carry out Ph.D. studies under the following conditions.

Duration: 48 months (the first 24 as a fellowship and the last 24 as a contract, starting October 2012).

Funding: 12 annual payments of 1,142 euros during the fellowship period and 14 annual payments of 1,142 euros during the contract period, including Social Security benefits, exemption from the cost of enrollment and following PDIF (Research university personnel in training) rights.

Requirements: The candidates must register for and perform their Ph.D. training and studies. The grantees will collaborate in the Departments' teaching obligations with a maximum of 60 hours per year.

Students should have finished a Master's degree in the field of Molecular Biosciences. Students that are enrolled on a Master's or equivalent course in 2011-2012, but that have yet to complete their course, can still apply for the contracts.

Aimed at highly motivated and outstanding students with an excellent academic record. Applications from students from universities outside Spain are encouraged.

The candidates who submit an application will be interviewed online and only exceptionally will personal interviews be carried out. The selection process will be performed by the executive committee of the Postgraduate Programme in Molecular Biosciences, and candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic record taking into account the letters of recommendation and the report from the director of their theses.

The application should be accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae (in English), an up-to-date certificate of academic achievement (from both Bachelor and Master studies and in English) and, optionally, a letter of recommendation from a professor or lecturer at the institution where the applicants completed their studies.

The applicants must provide written acceptance by a researcher associated with the Postgraduate Programme in Molecular Biosciences who is willing to act as the director of the students' doctoral thesis. The letter of acceptance should be accompanied by a report from the director of the thesis containing a plan of the research and the proposed training during the student's doctoral period.
