The Translational Medicine group in the Neuroscience
Discovery and Translational Area is looking to fill a newly
created Translational Medicine Leader (Senior Director)
position to lead early development projects for new
medicines in the areas of Psychiatry and Neurodevelopmental
Disorders. The position reports directly to the Head of CNS
Translational Medicine, and will be working in close
partnership with other clinical leaders in the group.
In this role you:
have the opportunity of working closely with both
clinicians and researchers doing cutting-edge science, and
help develop new therapies to treat conditions for which
there are currently no effective options;
act as the clinical and scientific leader for projects
in early development mainly targeting novel therapies for
neurodevelopmental disorders using proof-of-mechanism and
proof-of-concept studies. Other potential areas for focus
might include neuropsychiatric diseases such as depression
and schizophrenia;
will also be responsible for the scientific championship
of projects, participation in scientific advisory boards and
liaison with the academic and research community.

You are ideally an Assistant/Associate Professor in a
leading academic center or have a comparable position in a
major clinical center, and have an MD or M.D./Ph.D. with a
focus in psychiatry and/or child psychiatry. Beyond this you:
are familiar with preclinical disease models;
are able to bridge preclinical findings into clinically
testable hypotheses as well as have clinical practice/
research experience in child psychiatry;
should currently spend a significant percentage of time
in the clinic, as well as conduct either basic or clinical
research in this area;
have an interest in the interface between drug discovery
and early clinical development.
