Job Title: Faculty Position in Translational Neuroscience
Employer: University of Kentucky, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Lexington Kentucky
Description: The University of Kentucky in Lexington invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the area of translational neuroscience. The position is in the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, an established center of excellence where independent basic and clinical scientists work in a collaborative environment. The Center on Aging also includes the University of Kentucky Alzheimer’s Disease Center that provides unique and outstanding resources that can support innovative research (e.g., longitudinally followed clinical cohorts, imaging, biomarkers, autopsy specimens).

We are especially interested in investigators with interdisciplinary research programs. Example research areas include the study of healthy brain aging, Alzheimer’s disease or related neurodegenerative disorders, and stroke. Translational programs that encompass basic and/or clinical research and focus on early mechanisms of disease pathogenesis are of special interest.

Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree, and postdoctoral experience demonstrating outstanding achievement. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level ideally will have an externally funded, independent research program. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level should have a track record of extramural funding and scholarly output commensurate with the level of their appointment. Evaluation of applicants will begin June 2012.
Contact: Highly motivated and talented individuals should submit their applications, as a single PDF file, that includes a complete CV, a brief statement describing their area of expertise and career goals, current and future research plans, and the names and contact information of at least three references to: SBCOAFacultySearch@uky.edu.
