Why hasn’t Aß been shown to accumlate intracellularly in AD?
One difficulty with the hypothesis that intracellular Aß plays an important role in AD is that intracellular Aß aggregates and amyloid fibrils have not “classically” been described as part of the changes observed in AD brain.
Since this issue has not been specifically addressed using sensitive techniques, there are several plausible explanations as to why intracellular Aß aggregates or fibrils may have been overlooked.
