Role of Aß42 in AD
Importantly, no other change has been linked to the various genetic causes of AD as convincingly as increased extracellular Aß42.
Until this is done, other theories of AD pathogenesis are highly speculative.
The possibility that increased intracellular Aß42 plays an important role in AD should be carefully considered, however, for reasons that are discussed in the remainder of this presentation.
