Role of Aß42 in AD
Collectively, the foregoing observations provide strong support for the hypothesis that extracellular Aß deposition is an essential early event in AD pathogenesis.
- In the genetic forms of AD and in some cases of sporadic AD, Aß deposition is presumed to be triggered by increased extracellular Aß42.
- In other cases of sporadic AD, alternative mechanisms may trigger Aß deposition.
