Paired Helical Filaments (PHF)
Highly Phophorylated Tau Proteins Ubiquitins
It is well known that Paired Helical Filaments consist of ubiquitin and abnormally Phosphorylated tau proteins. However, Dr. Virginia Lee has shown that abnormally phosphorylated tau protein itself can form PHF-like structure. This gave us the idea that highly phosphorylation of tau will bear the key to solve the problem of PHF formation.
