Live Discussion Instructions

This discussion will be done via WebEx, an audio-visual conferencing software that will allow us to view powerpoint presentations (on your computer) and hear lectures (via a toll free telephone call) concomitantly.

(Should you encounter any technical difficulties with WebEx, please contact +1-866-229-3239 (US toll free) or +1-408-435-7088 (international). For toll free numbers from your country, please consult the list.)

How is this being done? Basically, the attendee will go to our WebEx center. (If you want to go to our WebEx center and continue reading these instructions, you may need to open a new browser window to do both at the same time). At that point, the attendee will see our scheduled meeting listed and will click on "Join Now" (right side of the screen), as illustrated below.

A sign-in page will then open, asking the attendee to submit their name and email address, along with the session password (last name of lead discussant).

Once the "OK" button is hit, the meeting window will open (please be patient until the meeting page will load).

Another window will open with information on the toll-free numbers to use for the telephone conference. The attendee will then dial up the toll free number and thus be connected online as well as via telephone.

The presenter will give his or her lecture and will then open the floor for questions. Should you wish to ask the moderator or presenter a question during the actual presentation, you may do so via private messaging to host or by clicking on the hand symbol (located among the icons on the right side of your conference window). Otherwise, the moderator will direct the Q&A at the end of the presentation.

Please note that given the system's limitation, the discussion will be limited to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Should you encounter any technical difficulties with WebEx, please contact +1-866-229-3239 (US toll free) or +1-408-435-7088 (international). For toll free numbers from your country, please consult the list.

To test your computer to see whether it meets the minimum requirements for running a WebEx meeting. Following the test, you will be provided with recommended system settings for joining a WebEx meeting.

If you are using Mozilla as your browser on a UNIX based operating system such as Solaris or Linux or Apple's Mac OS X platform, you will need to make sure that the Java plug-in is installed on your workstation. Mozilla does not ship with the Java Plug-In by default on these platforms. The following web sites provide instructions for the associated operating system:
Linux
Solaris
Mac OS X

On UNIX based systems, there is a symbolic link that is required. The example below is based on a Red Hat Linux environment:
$ cd /usr/local/mozilla/plugins $ ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so
