7.

Education level has a significant correlation with risk of AD

What is the causal relationship? Is cognitive reserve inherent or the result of education? What is the link?

Has a survey ever been done on what occupations AD patients had before they retired and/or were diagnosed with AD? I note that I read a lot of articles that still say if you keep your brain active, you won't get Alzheimer's. I don't agree. Although, I do believe keeping one's brain more active will certainly help in old age if you do not get dementia. My mother was a former school teacher, retired only one year after she was diagnosed. She used to do crossword puzzles daily. Although it is difficult to ascertain the former occupations of the residents at the facility where my mother lives, I know that one used to be a pharmacist and one used to be a deputy sheriff. Does such a survey exist? Has a correlation been run? If so, what were the results?

For the purpose of designing intervention trials for people with FAD mutation, is a presymptomatic individual a:

Healthy person? (Drug trial risk tolerance: zero)

Ill person? (Risk tolerance: medium)

Person with fatal disease? (Risk tolerance: high, just check cancer.)
