Researchers around the world are working to identify and validate biomarkers of Alzheimer diseasegenes, proteins, and other biomolecules associated with the disease that can be used to assess risk, disease stage, or response to treatment. Our biomarker homepage lists resources that may be useful for research. If you are aware of other relevant biomarker resources, please contact us.
Alzheimer Antecedent Biomarkers Resource
The Alzheimer Antecedent Biomarkers Resource was created as a resource to connect investigators and to promote awareness of ongoing studies among potential volunteers and AD researchers at large. The goals of this resource include the following: 1) to provide opportunities for collaboration among investigators; 2) to inform the AD community about research projects involving human subjects and provide contact information for clinical research coordinators; and 3) to increase awareness of antecedent AD biomarker research by featuring studies, investigators, and publications on the website. The website was launched with content provided by the Washington University Adult Children Study, but all groups are invited to contribute listings about their own studies.
Telemakus Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease & Mild Cognitive Impairment Knowledgebase
This is a knowledgebase of AD and MCI biomarker studies, powered by Telemakus, an information management and knowledge discovery tool for building knowledgebases. Each knowledgebase contains data extracted from scientific reports in a specific domain. Telemakus provides a unique way for you to search both within and across research documents that form the intellectual output of a domain, thus enabling broader and deeper exploration. Telemakus is unique in combining informative document representations with interactive concept maps of linked relationships across groups of research reports. Data are displayed in two formats:
a “document surrogate” that allows for rapid searching, browsing, and review of journal articles; and interactive visual maps of linked concepts that allow you to explore interrelationships among documents.
Antecedent Biomarkers Working Group
These articles summarize the research findings and intellectual input of the Antecedent Biomarkers Group. These meetings were sponsored by the Washington University Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
