These CSF data indicating reduced methylation capacity in Alzheimer disease are consistent with our finding of reduced expression of epigenetic marks in AD brain (Mastroeni et al., 2009; Mastroeni et al., in press). It seems noteworthy that the epigenetic reductions we have found in brain are reflected in CSF.
