  1. Reports of neuropsychiatric symptoms correlating with hypometabolism in preclinical AD patients are consistent with the recently proposed neuroenergetic hypothesis (Blonz 2017), and provide further correlative evidence that the process may indeed be identified before any onset of cognitive symptoms. It will be of critical importance to determine if alternate sources of metabolizable energy can moderate neuropsychiatric symptoms in the various clinical stages.
