Excellent study with a note of caution to those working with mouse models. I think it was a good choice to use an F1 mouse strain as a tissue source, although it might be good for a follow-up study to include pure strains such as B6. It would also be interesting to see whether the differences seen between murine and human cortex can be confirmed for other brain areas such as the brainstem.
