Antibodies:
Levels of Aβ1–40 and Aβ1–42 were measured using commercially available ELISA kits (Biosource/Invitrogen) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
GR and CRF-R1 immunohistochemical staining was performed using published methods (Chen et al., 2000; Klimaviciute et al., 2006). Antibodies used were mouse monoclonal anti-GR (BuGR2) (Affinity BioReagents) and goat anti-CRF-R1 (Santa Cruz Biotech).
For immunohistochemical staining of Aβ plaques, rabbit anti-Aβ pan (Biosource/Invitrogen) raised against Aβ synthetic peptide, in the region of amino acids 15–30.
