This study of the effects of CSF drainage on a large cohort of AD patients argues against a benefit of this invasive therapy for AD patients. However, there is evidence that CSF shunting for normal pressure hydrocephalus ameliorates cognitive impairments in this enigmatic syndrome, although the reasons for this are not entirely clear ( Pujari et al., 2008).
