This paper fails to mention that trace amounts of other types of soluble silicates also help with excretion of aluminum, namely sodium metasilicate, sodium silicate.
There is an issue of chlorine/fluoride/aluminum in water or food that may be involved in penetrating the blood-brain barrier. They may also act as catalysts.
Many people think silicic acid is the only soluble form, but other silicate compounds are also a possibility.
The formation of aluminum hydroxide may also be due to large amounts of iron in the blood, which causes the formation of free hydroxyl radicals. These may aid in formation of aluminum aydroxide, which in turn reacts with salicic acid in the brain. Thus, the possibility exists for a lack of buffering capacity in the body as a precursor of hydroxyl free radical.
