REAGENTS/MATERIAL:

Antibodies used in this study were polyclonal APP (U955), syntaxin (I378 and I379) and monoclonal antibodies against the extracellular sequences of APP (1G7 and 5A3) (gift of Dr. E. Koo, University of California–San Diego). Ab40 levels in samples and standards were measured in duplicates by colorimetric ELISA (Biosource) according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Immunocytochemistry of transfected HeLa cells was performed using polyclonal syntaxin antibodies and monoclonal antibodies to GM130 (Transduction Laboratories).
