REAGENTS/MATERIAL:

Transgenic mice Ap2-/- were intercrossed with ApoE-deficient mice. The resulting heterozygous mice Ap2-/+ Apoe-/+ were then intercrossed to produce Ap2-/- Apoe-/- as well as Ap-/+ Apoe-/+.

Immunocytochemistry on the mouse proximal aorta to test for macrophages and aP2 protein in arterial lesions used polyclonal rabbit anti-aP2 (gift of D. Bernlohr) or rat anti-macrophages, MOMA-2 (Accurate).
