The DIAN represents a bold attempt at pushing Alzheimer's clinical research squarely into the preclinical phase. It enrolls adult children of people with autosomal-dominant AD into an intensive longitudinal observation study. Just prior to the ICAD meeting held in Honolulu, Hawaii, DIAN researchers from three continents and some family members met to discuss progress so far. At day's end, they also presented the first cut of baseline results to industry leaders in hopes of offering to generous research volunteers what they most want: a prevention trial.
