Description

The Rizzo Laboratory in the Department of Medicine, Aging Institute, is seeking a qualified candidate to study the neurophysiology of Alzheimer's disease using EEG in model systems, and in support of drug discovery efforts to identify novel therapeutics. The lab uses preclinical model systems and translational approaches toward identifying disease and symptom-modifying therapeutics for Alzheimer’s Disease. The incumbent will work as part of a fast-paced drug discovery team supporting multi-institutional consortia including the Model Organism Development for Late Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (MODEL-AD) consortium, and The Target Enablement to Accelerate Therapy Development for Alzheimer’s Disease (TREAT-AD) Program. Studies are focused on in vivo target engagement and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) translational endpoints.

Requirements

The incumbent must have a doctoral degree and three years of postgraduate research experience with in vivo EEG or electrophysiology techniques. Technical expertise with in vivo pharmacology techniques (ELISA, protein biochemistry, immunohistochemistry) and EEG is preferred.

The incumbent will also have fundamental knowledge of genetics and Alzheimer’s disease and be willing to work in a team environment.
