We seek two motivated and enthusiastic candidates with a demonstrated track record in basic or translational neuroscience/lipid biology. The successful candidate will explore how transcription factors and other regulators of cholesterol/lipid homeostasis impact neurodegeneration and specifically Alzheimer's disease, as well as the identification of novel therapeutic targets. The projects include the application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) to reveal transcription factor binding genome-wide, histone modifications, and other epigenetic changes and expression profiling.

Responsibilities include planning, executing, and analyzing data. Experience in MS Excel, GraphPad, or other program for data analysis is required. The candidate selected will be expected to write and publish his or her data in top-tier journals and present at international meetings.

Qualified individuals will have a Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline to enable them to perform at the highest level.

For the first position, the candidate must have experience with transgenic mice, small rodent surgery, histology, imaging (light and confocal microscopy). Experience in Alzheimer's disease research and/or cholesterol metabolism and animal behavior, although not essential, is highly desired

For the second position, experience in molecular biology (e.g., cloning, protein expression, RT-QPCR, RNAi, microRNA, evaluation of gene expression, protein purification, enzyme assays, ChIP). Previous work with methods relevant to next-generation sequencing (library generation, statistical and bioinformatics analyses of datasets) is a significant plus.
