Interested candidates should send their applications including a CV and two references in a single file to: email@example.com. Refer to (f/m) - Code 1208/2013/10. Review of application will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on neurodegenerative diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen, and Witten.
Population research at the DZNE aims to investigate causes and biomarkers of neurodegenerative and other diseases over the adult life course. To this end the team, led by Prof. Monique M.B. Breteler, Director of Population Health Sciences of the DZNE, is establishing the Rhineland Study, a prospective population-based cohort study that will include up to 30,000 people aged 30 years and over. The study facilities encompass three recruitment centers equipped with state-of-the art apparatus, advanced bio-banking facilities, and large data storage and computational resources.
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated candidate to help establish and conduct this cohort study.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection and processing of all biomaterials (blood, urine, stool, etc.) within the Rhineland Study. This includes the development and implementation of SOPs, training and supervision of study technicians and other lab personnel involved in sample collection, preparation, storage, and retrieval, and guaranteeing the smooth operation of the laboratory work at the recruitment centers and other biospecimen processing sites. Quality control will be a crucial task. The candidate will closely collaborate with the biorepository facility, which is being established at the DZNE site in Bonn, and will advise scientists on issues related to sample collection and processing. The position allows the development of the candidate's own research focus. He or she will be part of the study management team of the Rhineland Study. The position is based at the DZNE in Bonn.
We are seeking a creative and proactive person with a university degree in a biological or medical laboratory-related area and demonstrable experience in all aspects of laboratory management, including development of study protocols for large-scale studies in humans, direct oversight responsibilities for equipment, employees, supplies, software, and documentation. Working experience in epidemiologic research is particularly appreciated. The candidate should have a strong interest in medical research as well as strong background in clinical chemistry.
For further information, please contact Prof Monique M.B. Breteler (firstname.lastname@example.org). Employment, payment, and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst). The DZNE is an equal opportunity employer. The DZNE especially welcomes and encourages disabled individuals to apply.
