Good morning, all:

I would very much appreciate if you could inform me about amyloid stainings. I'm beggining a project on Alzheimer and I know that Congo Red and Thioflavin S staining are appropriate staining to see the amyloid plaques, but I don't know which one is more appropriate, neither the protocol to use these staining, neither how to see these stainings (fluorescence, light o polarized microscopy). I would need to know if these stainings work not using paraffin embebed tissue, but paraformaldhide fixed and freezed in OCT tissue. Do these staining work only when cut in 5 micrometer sections?

Thank you very much for your help.
