The Alzheimer Research Forum (Alzforum), founded in 1996, is the Web's most dynamic scientific community dedicated to understanding Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Access to the website is free to all. Our editorial priorities are as diverse as the needs of the research community. The website reports on the latest scientific findings from basic research to clinical trials, creates and maintains public databases of essential research data and reagents, and produces discussion forums to promote debate, speed the dissemination of new ideas, and break down barriers across the numerous disciplines that can contribute to the global effort to cure Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzforum team of professional science writers and editors, information technology experts, Web developers and producers all work closely with our distinguished Advisory Board to ensure a high quality of information and services. We very much welcome our readers' participation in all aspects of the website.

In addition, Alzforum generates content for periodic electronic newsletters that the Alzheimer's Prevention Registry sends to its members. The Registry is a separate online community of individuals interested in making a difference in prevention research to end Alzheimer's disease. Its work benefits academic and clinical research organizations across the United States.

In September 2012, Banner Health, Phoenix, Arizona, became an organizational member of Alzforum in order to serve as steward of this invaluable resource on behalf of the entire Alzheimer's research community. Alzforum continues to be governed by its own Board of Trustees and funded by grants and individual donations. Board members include David Holtzman, Washington University St. Louis, Missouri (Chair); Bruce Miller, University of California, San Francisco; Frank LaFerla, University of California, Irvine; Pierre Tariot, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute; and Eric Reiman, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. Its bylaws stipulate that its professional staff (e.g., science writers and editors, information technology experts, Web developers and producers) shall maintain complete journalistic independence—a position that the Board of Trustees, Banner Health, Banner Alzheimer's Institute, and related Banner organizations fully support.
